As technology kept advancing, into the 1980s, outsourcing grew and expanded. It did not just stop at technological advancements, as the world became easier to navigate both through technology and travel, business began to send off raw materials to outside countries to be manufactured by third parties that provided cheaper labor. At the end of the 1980s roles other than direct labor were moved out of their home country, roles like Human Resources, manufacturing and Information Technology (IT).
Entering the last decade of the 20th century, the 1990s, computers started to see advancements that reduced the amount of errors. The close of the 90s also brought about paranoia that all computer systems would crash leading to advancements that would allow computers to update in flash. The 90s also saw the rise of the Internet.
Kicking off the 21st century, the early 2000s, the Internet was now more mainstream dial-up was widely available and there was a boom of tech jobs. However, labor demand outnumbered those qualified to do it and so there was no choice but to outsource it, some of the most in demand jobs were those of IT.
Since the early 2000s, outsourcing has been rapidly growing, allowing for companies to concentrate on separate aspects of business, train their labor force in rolls that they consider essential and still have the peace of mind that all work is being done efficiently and in a timely fashion.
